Jazz Portrait Used for Poster

Evan Flory-Barnes

The 2012 Earshot Jazz Festival is starting up on Friday Oct 12th. Here is the 2012 Earshot Jazz Festival schedule.

Once again this year I was commissioned to create an original photograph for the annual Earshot Jazz Festival. I made this picture of Evan Flory-Barnes in a very dark jazz club in Fremont but thanks to the amazing quality of the Canon 5D Mark III along with the Canon 85mm f1.2 lens I got a few decent images of Evan in the near dark at an EI of 25,000. Here is how the poster came out.

Seattle’s annual Earshot Jazz Festival returns October 12th and continues through November 4th with more than 50 distinctive concert events in venues all around the city.

Known for “adventurous, spot-on programming” (Jazz Times) and praised as “one of the best festivals in America” (Seattle Times) the Earshot Jazz Festival brings jazz greats from around the world into creative collaboration with area artists and audiences. Earshot also celebrates Seattle’s place in the world of jazz, with concerts by our award-winning high-school jazz programs and our own renowned resident artists. 2012 Earshot Jazz Festival schedule.

New Born Girl

I had the pleasure of photographing Frieda and her parents before she was a whole week old.

Trees By The Sea

June 5th, 2012

I have always loved this stand of trees at Golden Gardens beach. We were there on Sunday for the wedding of a good friend. It is a beautiful place for a wedding when the weather cooperates as it did last weekend.

So this weekend spring finally seemed to arrive after a very wet winter. Discovery Park was grand fun for family and dogs.

Chilly Morning

January 27th, 2012

I took out our border collies, Charlie and Luna for a run and ball toss and it was cold. Temperature was 32F and there was frost everywhere. Almost fell down after slipping on some black ice in the parking lot.

Another recent assignment this time to photograph George Carofino and his wife Dianne. We were fortunate to have a beautiful sunny day so we headed out to the beach at Carkeek  Park. It turned out to be very clear so we got the Olympic Mountains to show up behind them. Also made a few images of their son Brad and his family on the beach
